Apprentice Seminar

OFDA hosts an annual Apprentice Seminar designed to guide apprentices as they transition into the funeral profession and obtain their license. This seminar offers valuable insights from industry experts on essential topics, including the FTC Funeral Rule, VA & Social Security Benefits, Preneed, OSHA, and Department of Health regulations. A representative from the State of Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors will also be present to outline the steps required upon completion of the apprenticeship. The next Apprentice Seminar is scheduled for August 19, 2025 at the OFDA office.

The OFDA Education Committee has created an Apprentice Study Guide to help prepare apprentices to take the Ohio Laws and Rules Exam. The study guide includes practice questions for each section.

Out of concern for the well-being of Ohio's funeral professionals, OFDA is currently reviewing plans for the 2024 schedule. Information will be shared when made available.
