Obituary for Robert Mayhew

Former Owner of Mayhew Funeral Home (now Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home)

Robert Franklin Mayhew, 82, of Jackson, Ohio, passed 1:17 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Four Winds Community Nursing Home, Jackson, Ohio.

Robert was born March 9, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Clyde E. Mayhew, and Winifred E. (Bennett) Mayhew. On October 4, 1981, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Carol (Parks) Mayhew, who survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Rowena (Mayhew) Evans.

Robert was a graduate of The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army and was the former owner and operator of Mayhew Funeral Home, Jackson, Ohio. He was a member of Trowel Masonic Lodge #132, Jackson, Ohio; Valley of Columbus – Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; and Jefferson Howe American Legion Post #81, Jackson, Ohio.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home, Jackson, Ohio, with Reverend Janie Karl officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio with graveside military rites performed by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service on Saturday at the funeral home in Jackson.
