David James Devore (Davey), 27, of West Salem, died June 19th, 2020 at Metro Health Hospital, Cleveland from burns sustained in an accident. Davey was born July 5th, 1992 to parents David and Michele Matteson Devore in Wooster, Ohio. Davey was a determined child and a hardworking man. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 2011 and Hocking College with a degree in Heavy Equipment Operating in 2013. During his 27 years of life he had many accomplishments. He earned his Black Belt in Karate, he was a member of the Boy Scout Troop 452, where he earned his Eagle Scout with two Palms. While in scouts he also earned his Order of the Arrow and Brotherhood. He was a member of the Wayne County Swine Committee from the time he was an early teen till now and he was currently the Vice President, he was also an advisor for Congress 4-H Power, the club that he was a member of since he was a child. Davey earned his FFA National and State Degrees through the Northwestern-Wayne FFA Chapter. He was a third-generation firefighter with the Town and Country Fire Department. Wood working and doing anything with his hands were pure joy to Davey, he also loved collecting guns and knives. He and his wife were the owners and operators of Devore Trucking and Davey loved his animals. Davey married the love of his life Molly (Rhees) Devore October 10, 2015. Molly meant the world to Davey, she was the light of his life from the moment they met in the swine barn at the fair, until the end he loved her so very much. Wherever there was Molly there was Davey and wherever there was Davey there would be Molly. Davey truly felt that “God Gave Me You” when he looked at Molly and he was truly thankful for every day he had with her. Davey enjoyed mentoring children and loved passing his knowledge to younger children, always eager to put his knowledge to good use. There would be many nights at the fair where you would find Davey in the pig barn helping clip hogs and developing the youth into young adults. Davey might have been a no-nonsense kind of man but he was a man with a big heart and a true passion for being a helping hand to anyone who asked.
