Obituary of Dale Bond

Brother of Funeral Director, Marlene S. Bond

Dale Edward Bond died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at his home in Londonderry, Ohio. The same home he was born in on January 27, 1936 to the late Scott Tidrick Bond and Marguerite Patterson Bond. He graduated from Madison High School Class of 1953 and The Ohio  State University, College of Commerce Class of 1957. He retired from ODOT in 1988 as the Chief of the Bureau of Appraisal. He lived in the Cleveland area for fifteen years and while there was a member of The English Speaking Union, Early Settlers Association, Western Reserve Historical Society and Cuyahoga-West Genealogical Society.

When he returned to Columbus in 1974 he served as President and Board Chairman of the Columbus Branch of The English Speaking Union. He was active in the King Ave. United Methodist Church. He was lay Leader and organist of the Londonderry United Methodist Church, member of Freeport Lodge #415 F&AM and Freeport Chapter #319 OES. He was a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society, Columbus and Guernsey County  Historical Societies. He spent his retirement winters at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he attended First United Methodist Church and the Ohio Club.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved Father, Mother, three brothers Larry, Dick, and Gene; one sister Joan.

He is survived by his daughter Allison (David) Miller of Mount Pleasant, SC; sister Marlene Bond of Londonderry. Three grandchildren Maureen (Dylan) Harbolt of  Columbus, Ohio, Quentin and Larkin Miller of Mount Pleasant, SC; two great-grandsons Brock and Thor; sister-in-law Janet Bond of Londonderry; 6 nephews and 2 nieces, and several great-nephews and nieces. Friend and Caregivers Javier Alvarado of Fort Lauderdale and Lori Beckman of Londonderry.

He loved animals, music, literature, OSU Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Friends called on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Bond Funeral Home, Londonderry, Ohio from 2:00-8:00 pm. The funeral service was held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Londonderry United Methodist Church, co-officiating were Pastors Karen Osborn and Karen Elliott. Burial followed at Sunset View Cemetery.
