Obituary for Sara Jo Heslop

Wife of Wilbur Heslop, Vice-President, and Mother of Greg Heslop, President, of Heslop Funeral Home

Sara Jo (Harth) Heslop, 88, of Martins Ferry, OH died, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at her home. She was born February 9, 1929 in Martins Ferry a daughter of the late Clarence K. and Esther E. (Redinger) Harth.

She retired as Secretary and Administrative Assistant from Heslop Funeral Home.

Sara Jo was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Martins Ferry where she was the former Director of Youth Choirs and former Librarian for the church. She was also a member of the former Emera Chapter #452 Order of Eastern Star, Holly Twig at East Ohio Regional Hospital and Belmont Hills County Club.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Charles Dietlin, brother, Joseph H. Harth and sister, Carolyn Bess.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Wilbur R. Heslop, Jr., children; Greg (Sandy) Heslop of Martins Ferry, Cindi H. Dietlin of Simsbury, CT and Heidi H. (Jeffrey) Burns of Powell, OH, grandchildren; Darnas (Jon Furlong) Grimm of Columbus, OH, Dana (Geoff) Nehren of Holland, OH, Susan (Dan Kelley) Merjos of New York, NY and Robert T. Vavrina, III of Raleigh, NC, great grandchildren; Kiersten Grimm, Tyler Grimm, Rose Sara Merjos, Jacob Nehren and Travis Nehren and her sister Darlene (Tary) Bole of Ocala, FL.

Family and friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday, May 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence and Rev. Tina Siroki officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
