Beula M. Peoples

OFDA received word this morning that Beula M. Peoples, 94, of Lowell, died Saturday, October 20, 2007. She was born September 4, 1913 in Waynesburg, PA to William Thomas and Emma Stark Moore.

She was a 1936 graduate of Emerson College in Boston, MA, where she was affiliated with Kappa Gamma Chi Sorority. Beula, along with husband, Bob, owned and operated Peoples Furniture and Peoples Funeral Home in Lowell, for more than thirty years.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church, where she had been an active member of the Women's Guild. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Lowell Chapter #272 for over 50 years, where she was a past Matron and had been Deputy Grand Matron. Beula enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and Scrabble with her family, cross stitching, knitting and reading.

She is survived by four children, Marilynn Scharff, and her four children, Stephen, Nancy Duquette, Kathy Patalano, and husband, Kevin, Brian, and wife, Amanda; Donovan Peoples, and his two sons, Craig, and wife, Andrea, Christopher, and their mother, Darla Peoples; Bill Peoples and wife, Pat, and their daughter, Grace; Rick Peoples and wife, Judy, and their two children, Emily and Matthew. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren, Toria Scharff, Shelby Offenberger, Serena Patalano, Tommy Duquette, Alyson and Jonas Peoples, Madelyn and Caleb Scharff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Peoples, on September 4, 1988. They were married on November 15, 1938. She was also preceded by four brothers, Donovan, Harold, Charles and James Moore.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Evangelical Church, Lowell, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday October 24, 2007. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Lowell.

Friends may call at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home anytime Tuesday, where Beula's family will be greeting from 2 till 8 p.m. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23.
