Notification of Death - William J. "Bill" Gelvin II

OFDA received word this morning that William "Bill" J. Gelvin II, age 62, of Norwalk, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, July 15, 2006 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.

Mr. Gelvin was an Account Executive in Ohio for Batesville Casket Company for 12 years, Executive Vice President of Kubach-Smith Funeral Home in Norwalk for six years, where he became a licensed funeral director in 1991.

He enjoyed golfing, having played in several area leagues; woodworking, traveling, computer technology, music, photography and nature. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Smith) Gelvin, to whom he married on April 1, 1988; daughter, Heather E. (Scott) Womack; son, Andrew J. (Faith) Gelvin; grandchildren, Adeline Qian Cooke Womack and Felix Vonn Gelvin; father, John E. Gelvin; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lee and Amy Smith and Debe Gelvin; a niece, Jennifer L. Smith; nephews, Joshua L. Smith and Brady John Gelvin.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen E. (Cooke) Gelvin in 2003; and brother, John E "Jake" Gelvin in 2005.

Friends may call on Friday, July 21, 2006 from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 PM at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd, Norwalk. Burial will follow with military honors at Milan Cemetery.
