Notification of Death - John J. Conroy

March 15, 2006

OFDA received word this afternoon that John J. Conroy, 86, of Springfield, died at 8:00 p.m., March 15, 2006 in The Woodlands of Oakwood Village. He was born in Springfield, March 2, 1920, the son of Irish immigrants, James Francis and Catherine (Houlihan) Conroy and had resided here all his life. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He had served the funeral profession since December, 1945 and was a partner in the former Degenhart-Conroy Funeral Home prior to founding, with his wife Jean, the Conroy Funeral Home.

Survivors include twin daughters, Kay (David) Cooke, Columbus, Ohio, Kathy (Don) Peterman, Woodstock, Georgia, a son, Jack (Lonnie) Conroy, Springfield and a daughter, Mary Jean (William) Weber, Sanford, Michigan; twelve grandchildren, Susan & Dale Pugh, Melissa & Matt Bugg, Tommy, Krissy & Donnie Peterman, Doug Stevens, Aaron, Kyle & Bryce Conroy, Jennifer & Dan Cantor, Patrick & Dorota Weber & Adam Weber; 7 great grandchildren, Kathryn, Dale & Jack Pugh, Jacob, Hannah & George Bugg and Audrey Cantor; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jean (Degenhart), two sisters, Loretta Dugan and Christine Eagleton and a brother James F. Conroy.

Friends may call in the Conroy Funeral Home, 1660 East High Street, Springfiled, Ohio 45505, from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006 in St. Teresa Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
