Notification of Death - Mary Louise Shirer

OFDA received word this morning about the death of Mary Louise Shirer, 87, of Adamsville, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the Beckett House, New Concord, Ohio. Mrs. Shirer was the co-owner and operator along with her husband, Gerald Shirer of the former Shirer Funeral Home which was located in Adamsville for many years.

Surviving a sister in-law, Esther Browning of New Concord, five nephews, Richard & wife Peggy Browning, Kurt & wife Bev Browning, Jan and wife Sheri Browning, Rick & wife Linda Browning, and Erik and wife Lynda Browning; cousin, John and Carolyn Browning, seven nieces, Billie and husband Fritz Tender, Donna McKirahan, Sharon and husband Allen French, JoAnn and husband Jack Hune, Kay and husband Bob Cobel, Diane & husband David Newell, and Marilyn Browning. Her adopted family Floyd and wife Marlene Green, who lovingly cared for Mary Louise and Gerald Shirer; grandchildren, Skip and wife Debbie Green, Vickie and husband Mike Matthews, Brenda and husband Steve Bissett, Lisa and husband Chris Cannon, Tammy & husband Darron Delancey; great grandchildren, Steven, Tiffany, Ashlie, and Dylon Matthews, Kisha and Kyle Cannon, Marlie and Kayla Bissett, Shadley, Shaylee (deceased), and Shirer Delancey, Jennifer, Billy, Kelly, Nicole, Sadie, Tyler, Kevin, Ryan, Braxton, Adam, Andrew, Haleigh, and Hayden Green.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Shirer, and four brothers, Robert, James, Allen and Donald Browning.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2005 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2005. Burial will follow at the Adamsville Baptist Cemetery, Adamsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Adamsville Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Squad or to the Adamsville Community Building.
