Notification of Death - Dorothy R. Burmeister Obrock

September 12, 2005

OFDA received word this morning about the death of Dorothy R. Burmeister Obrock (nee Krapf). Dorothy passed away, Monday, September 12 at her home following a lengthy illness at the age of 91. In 1944 she and her husband, Fred founded the Burmeister Funeral Home in Avon Lake, where she worked in many aspects of the business and resided until her death for the past 61 years.

Dorothy is survived by daughter Gretchen L. Burmeister of Avon Lake and son William C. Burmeister (Carol) of Avon; grandchildren: Bill M. Burmeister (Meghan) and Becky L. Busch (Jim) both of Avon Lake; great-grandchildern: Hannah, Sarah, and Jacob Busch and a sister Bella McCandless of Richfield, OH. She is also survived by step-children: Terry Obrock (Phyllis) of Myrtle Beach, Cliff Obrock (Carol) of Fairview Park and Jeff Obrock (Debbie) of Westlake, as well as, step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband Frederick L. Burmeister (1968); her second husband Clifford W. Obrock (2000) and her parents: William and Belle (nee Radway) Krapf.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Thursday, September 15, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral Service will be Friday, September 16 at 1:30pm in the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd, Avon Lake. Interment will follow in Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River.
