Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

This position is for a Ohio Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer. The successful team member will be able to work with minimal supervision. The ability to prioritize is essential, with timely and accurate completion of assignments. Flexibility is a must, as it is frequently required to adapt to changing dynamics and unexpected assignments. Outstanding Communication Skills, both verbal and written are required. Professional Business Attire is expected, with no visible tattoos or unprofessional piercings. The ideal team member is mission focused, values driven and comfortable working in a collaborative environment. One must be of strong character, capable of expressing empathy and exercising composure in stressful situations. At all times, sound judgment, confidentiality and tact are a necessity. Specific tasks designated for these individuals may include, but not be limited to the following: Provide outstanding, personal service to everyone we engage Public Speaking Answer/Return calls promptly & professionally Communicate effectively with other professionals Transportation & Preparation of Human Remains Comply with Federal and State Laws, as well as Company Policies and Procedures Assisting families and funeral directors in the carrying out funeral services Performing removals of human remains Embalming and preparing human remains / cremains for funeral service Being part of an on-call schedule for death calls Educating individuals and families on the value and benefits of preplanning and funding their funeral arrangements. Miscellaneous maintenance tasks as needed including monument sales and medical transport responsibilities Consult with families of the deceased to arrange funeral details, such as obituary notice wording, casket selection, or plans for services. Contact cemeteries to schedule the opening and closing of graves. Participate in community activities for funeral home promotion or other purposes. Arrange for clergy members to perform needed services. Provide or arrange transportation between sites for the remains, mourners, pallbearers, clergy, or flowers. Obtain information needed to complete legal documents, such as death certificates or burial permits. Arrange for pallbearers or inform pallbearers or honorary groups of their duties. Requirements & Qualifications: Applicants must have a flexible schedule, professional appearance, good attitude, and be a team player. The candidate must share in the idea of growing market and maintaining a premier level of customer satisfaction. Ohio Funeral Director & Embalmer License, the ability to reciprocate license from another state or ability to gain licensure through an apprenticeship program Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science Professional Business Attire is expected, with no visible tattoos or unprofessional piercings Good written and verbal communication skills Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed Valid state issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record. Ability to lift 75lbs Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with families during time of need and create and maintain a premier level of client family satisfaction Proficient with computers and technology Ability to lift 75lbs Self-starter and team player Funeral industry experience would also be a plus Demonstrated willingness to participate in growing market share through personal community involvement. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, community leaders, and grieving client families. Ability to empathize with client families and their guests and demonstrate tact and patience in emotionally charged situations. Ability to actively respond to the requests of the client families and their guests. Attention to detail and follow-through
